Trumpets Blasting
Aesthetically I think "Underground" was enhanced by the constant upbeat music. While the band following Marko and Blacky around was a little odd at first it added a sense of passion and exuberance to what they were doing, like they didn't care who heard them because they were going to do it either way. It also kept the action moving, the band helped the characters move from scene to scene with less effort and connected many of the scenes that may have otherwise lacked proper transition (cause let's face it that movie was ALL over the place). The enthusiasm of the music complimented the outgoing personalities of Blacky and Marko and the way they chose to deal with an obviously hectic time.

I really liked the band too! Without the band, the movie would not have been as funny or entertaining. It highlighted and exaggerated the humor that was central to this movie.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I think the band made the movie more entertaining. I also agree with how you said the "outgoing personalities" of Blacky and Marko are interesting during the situations the endure. The music added a lot to the film.
ReplyDeleteI loved the music! It was entirely optimistic and made it seem like the actions or plot was celebratory and cheery the entire time. The band and jazzy tunes sort of set the stage to everything that was happening with the main characters. The trumpets were a proper soundtrack to the cause.
ReplyDeleteI agree! The music does keep you entertained. I also feel like it was the one constant in the film, with all the chaos going on around them.
ReplyDeleteI'm the black sheep of this blog; I felt the music was overkill and while I fully support its purpose as a reflection of civil disorder, the music's non-stop prescence was a bit too much. I needed breathing room at times, to process the individual messages of the scenes.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Chris. To me, the constant loud music and the band was too much at times and took away from the plot of the movie.
